2013 season events

Volunteers’ weekend – Sunday 5 May and Monday 6 May

Our volunteers’ weekend takes place on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 May, 10am to 4 pm – the Spring Bank Holiday.  You can come for as long as you wish – any time you can spare would be great.  Join our pool manager Phil Ransley and other Pells volunteers to help get the pool ready for 2013 opening.  There will be painting, weeding, grass cutting, hosing and cleaning jobs to be done. Please wear old clothes and, if you can, bring gloves, plus kneeling pads, gardening tools etc.

First Swim of the Year – Saturday 18 May

The first swim of the year will be from noon on Saturday 18 May – come along and jump in and enjoy the waters. First chance to collect your 2013 season tickets too.

Official Opening Party – Saturday 25 May

Our official opening takes place as usual at noon on Saturday the Whitsun Weekend. There’ll be cakes and food for all – if you want to bring cakes to share please do.  And we will have our now traditional children’s race across the pool, with the prize of a 2013 season ticket to the winner.

Tongue and Groove – Midsummer Pool Party – Friday 21 June

Legendary Lewes covers band Tongue & Groove will be back for Midsummer 2013. Phil Rhodes and co will once again be raising the roof and helping us raise funds with a gig on Friday 21 June. Beer tent, BBQ and for the first time hog roasts (hope our veggie friends understand). Should be a fabulous midsummer night.  Tickets on sale soon!

Pells Triathlon

We’ve decided to try to host a triathlon (swim, run, cycle) from the Pells this year - and we’ll be letting everyone have details of the event as soon as that is arranged.

Last Swim of the Year – Sunday 15 September

Boo! Our formal last swim will be on Sunday 15 September. But also “Hurray!” since we’ve optimistically set this a week later than usual. We will extend the season and stay open even longer, if we get fine late September weather.
