The Pells Pool is on the north side of Lewes at the junction of Brook Street and St John's Hill, to the north of St John sub Castro church. It's south of Willey's Bridge - the pedestrian footbridge over the Ouse between Malling and Pells area. The Pool is just by the Pells Pond at the bottom of St John's Hill.
PS If you know where the Elephant and Castle pub is, you're almost there ...
If walking from the train station, come out of the main ticket hall entrance and turn right. Go up Station Street (past Lansdown pub),across the lights at the top and into Fisher Street. At the far end of Fisher Street, turn left down White Hill/Offham Road and at the Elephant and Castle Pub, turn right and head down St John's Terrace and keep going until you reach us - just by the Pells Pond at the bottom of St John's Hill.
If coming by bus from Brighton, you need to take a 28 or a 29 bus which starts from Churchill Square - and then runs along Old Steine and out along Lewes Road. Get off in the middle of Lewes on the High Street by the Law Court (just before traffic lights at Fisher Street/Station Street junction). Walk along High Street to ASK on corner and turn left into Fisher Street ... then same as above.
If walking from the Lewes bus station, go towards the Precinct (Boots is on your left),walk up School Hill to the traffic lights, and turn right into Fisher Street ... then same as above. (There is a more direct route along Green Lanes and through the Phoenix site, but it's harder to describe*!)
*For those more familiar with Lewes - from the bus station go past the Eastgate Church (with Waitrose on your right). Cross the road at the pedestrian crossings. Go down Green Lanes. Up Wellington Street. Turn right on North Street past Gorringes. Turn left down Spring Gardens. Pells is on your right just behind the Pells recreation ground. If you start walking past the Pells Pond you've gone too far ...
Routes from both stations are about a 10 minute walk
If you get lost - please just ask anyone, they should help.
Closest car parks are the two off street car parks at Spring Gardens and Brook Street - just off North Street (which continues left by the new police station, off the one-way road in central Lewes that leads east to the Phoenix Causeway - the main road bridge in Lewes). Both are long stay and the latest costs are a flat rate £1.90 all day - parking charges may increase by up to 40p from 30 April 2018.
