how to book

How to book a swim

You can book swims in advance using our online booking system. If you don’t have access to the internet, you can book swims in advance at the kiosk. You can also turn up at the start of a session and buy a ticket, if there are spaces available. If the session is fully booked, you won't be able to buy a ticket.

Pells is very popular, particularly in the school holidays, so we open up bookings for the following fortnight every Thursday (except for the first two weeks, as the season starts on a Saturday). This is to give as many people as possible the chance to enjoy the pool.

Please book a space for everyone who’s coming – even if they’re not planning to swim.

The booking system shows you how many spaces are left in each session.

Bringing children to the Pells

We love having children at the Pells and to make sure everyone is safe, we have a few rules:

  • Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult (16+) but can swim on their own

  • Children under eight must be accompanied by an adult in the water, at all times

  • One adult can bring two children aged between four and eight, or one child three years old or younger

  • Children under five swim for free but you still need to book them a space.

Swim Passes

If you’re a regular adult swimmer at the Pells, you can buy a Swim Pass to pay for 10, 15, 30, 60 or 100 one-hour swims in advance, which is cheaper than paying for individual sessions.

You pay for a Swim Pass by adding it to your shopping basket when you book the first swim; the cost of that swim is deducted from your pass. Subsequent swims are paid for using the pass, until it’s used up. You can see how many swims you have left on your bookings page.  Please note that any unused swims at the end of the season aren’t refundable.

  • 10 swims: £32

  • 15 swims: £45

  • 30 swims: £80

  • 60 swims: £130

  • 100 swims: £175

We also offer ten swims for adults on Universal Credit for £10.

The Swim Pass can only be used to book a swim for the person named on the pass but you can book more than one session a day.

Please note that buying a Swim Pass doesn’t give you priority over other swimmers when booking – if the session is full, then you won’t be able to book a swim.

  • You can’t transfer a booking to someone else

  • Bookings made using Swim Passes can only be for the person named on the pass

  • You can move a booking to another session up to 24 hours in advance by emailing us at pellspool@pellspool.org.uk
