Scheduled Closure - 21st July 2025

ree

On Monday the 21st of July, Pells Pool is planning to take a scheduled closure to ensure the highest possible water quality for all our customers in the coming weeks.

With the continued good weather and high volume of swimmers over the last few weeks, the strain on water has increased due to suncream, body lotions and sweat entering the pool. We are doing everything we can to mitigate the effects on the water, however, unfortunately it has got the point where we will be taking a one-day closure allowing the water time to circulate and be treated.

We will be monitoring our pool water quality continually and this decision is subject to change at short notice. If the water takes a turn for the better, we will look to reverse this decision and reopen on Monday. Alternatively, if the water clarity becomes worse, we will be forced to close earlier as ultimately your safety is our number one priority, and if our lifeguards are unable to see under the water this puts all of you at risk.

Any customers who are booked in to swim on Monday, your sessions will be transferred two weeks in advance at the same day/time. You should receive a confirmation email regarding this booking; from this you are able to manage your booking to a time that is convenient for you. If you need further assistance, please contact us via email at ‘pellspool@pellspool.org.uk’ or come and see us in person.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your continued support. The positivity and kindness that you all arrive with does not go unnoticed; without you, Pells Pool would not be the special place that it is.

It is amazing we have been able to welcome 40% more swimmers so far this season than in 2024. Moving forward you can help us maintain the highest possible water quality by showering every time before you enter the pool. This includes the first time you enter the water and then every other time following this; Using the toilet before you enter the water and avoiding putting on suncreams and body lotions directly before entering the pool. Additionally, in the future we are looking to implement further strategies and improve technology to help maintain water quality, but this does require a large investment hence it is something we are building towards in years to come.
